This is my story about getting started with qigong. My first Spring Forest Qigong class was in April 2000, in the beginning of my beginning with this ancient Chinese healing practice for body-mind wellness. Master Chunyi Lin began by instructing us how to pronounce ‘qigong’ – together – as a class. We worked at repeating after him several times, with the emphasis on the last syllable: “Chee – gong, chee-gong, cheegong, qigong! Satisfied, Master Lin smiled and said, “Now you speak Chinese.”  The room erupted with laughter. The warmth of the master’s heart began spreading to ours. Qigong stress reduction through humor and love: what a gift.

By the way… qigong means several things: energy work, air movement, and vital lifeforce transformation. I love that! Next, we learned about love, kindness, forgiveness, and compassion – the foundations of this practice, and a better way to live our lives. In all the years of my practice I have heard qigong pronounced a handful of ways by Chinese, American, and other people. To me, its pronunciation is far less important than embracing a positive path for optimal health and resilience! Whether you pronounce chee-gung, chee-gong, she-gong, she-gung, or chee-kung doesn’t matter one bit, if you learn the holistic benefits it brings!

I have studied and developed many natural, holistic healing techniques, tools, and resources on my personal and professional journey. Many are listed here: https://thewonderhorse.biz/rhondas-bio/
