Why Wonder Horse?

There were many names I considered – liked, even loved. The one that kept coming back for so many reasons was Wonder Horse. I’m a ‘thinker’.  I think in great, flowing spirals.  I am a writer, often enjoy stream-of-consciousness writing, a poet and song lyric schemer.  I love to write and explore ideas and concepts, especially around the topic of Positively Healing.

Initially:  My dearest friend on the planet, Mike, who died suddenly in December of 2009 gifted me with the nickname of ‘Rhonda the Wonder Horse’ after he’d known me for a few years.  His reasoning was that I knew how to do (and was good at) so very many things.  I could find out information for him in a snap, and make things happen so quickly that his head would spin.  He was ever- awed by my intelligence, efficiency, ability to think clearly, act decisively and generally succeed or thrive in a wide variety of settings and circumstances, despite negative factors which we all have in our lives.  He was one of my most unconditionally loving friends, admirers and supporters.  His love and appreciation was a buoy during difficult times in my life.  (He and one other friend saved my sanity – but it felt like they saved my life – in a particularly difficult time I was suffering, years ago.  I still walk & talk with the other friend, Jeanne, every week.)  In the spirit of Mike’s perception of me as an “omni-competent multi-tasker”, I embrace the name Wonder Horse wholeheartedly and with the intention of living up to his highest vision, when and wherever I can – and trying harder, and again, when I find that I cannot.  I may falter, but I will not stay down long.  I am not a one-trick pony.  I am Rhonda the Wonder Horse.

Horse Energy/Horse Totem:  Horse: stamina, mobility: The horse shows up in almost every mythological writing, folklore, and reality. There is the mighty winged Pegasus, the eight-legged horse of the Norse god Odin, the stallions of the Hindu sun god, the stallions of Apollo, and so on. Many legends speak of the horse as being clairvoyant and able to perceive humans with magical powers. No single animal has given man the physical freedom of movement as the horse. If you are drawn to Horse, you feel a power in your spirit that is sometimes difficult to control. Horse is a symbol of loyalty and devotion, of unquestioning love and faith in her master. She says that you love to travel, and have more than a touch of gypsy in your soul. Horse is also your warrior spirit – the brave fighter who brings you safety in your journeys, both physical and metaphysical. Horse’s medicine includes power, stamina, endurance, faithfulness, freedom to run free, control of the environment, awareness of power achieved with true cooperation, interspecies communication, expanding one’s own potential abilities, friendship and cooperation, travel, astral travel, guardian of travelers, warns of possible danger, and serves as a guide to overcoming obstacles.

     When I chose a company name in 2011, I had seven contracted income sources, several volunteer positions, including a board seat for a nonprofit corporation, a large family, my SFQ  ‘family of choice’, a busy social life, active lifestyle – and a maddeningly complex schedule.  It took a wondrous amount of organization to coordinate my schedule and balance my life.  Two men in my life told me one New Year’s Day that I was the busiest person they know in the world.  (Clearly they haven’t met a president or prime minister!)  My point, I suppose, is that I would not choose a company name which limits the range of my healing and consulting work.

     I drove a Mustang convertible…open to the air…speeding along with joy in my heart, among the herd of beings trying to go along and get along in harmony with one another, despite – or perhaps because of – our differences.

     When I asked my oldest friend, Dawn ‘If I were a horse, what kind would I be?’, she replied:   “I thought you were a Mustang because they come from the same historical stock as the Lipizzaner, yet they roam free. They are wild and fiery, yet can also be tame gentle, loving and loyal.  They are hearty and durable and in history made the lives of those they served easier. They are strong, sturdy animals that thrive through all sorts of difficult situations. Today, the wild herds are controversial, although well liked they are sometimes misunderstood, except by their most avid supporters.”

     My niece who is a graphic designer suggested a knight (chess piece) logo, for its ability to jump over obstacles and mystically appear out of nowhere. I seriously considered this option.

Perhaps most importantly, I have always loved horses. I rode as a girl, and convey healing energy to horses on a regular basis.  I was on the original SFQ Guild ReachOut Traveling Qi Team providing healing support for AAT horses (they work with therapists helping people going through ‘animal assisted therapy’).

I imagine that additional reasons will reveal themselves as time moves on. I am very drawn to Equine Coaching and expect to add it to my offerings in the forseeable future.
